The Dolby Licensee Community (DLC)

A multitude of support tools and information for Dolby licensees to seamlessly interact with us.

Based on your Dolby license agreements, you may be granted access to additional support features such as:

My Company

  • View Dolby Technology programs, agreement start, and end dates, licensed to your company.

  • Inform Dolby of changes made to your company structure to ensure your subsidiaries can access Dolby’s deliverables.

  • Advise Dolby when involved with a change of control, such as a Company name change or is in the process of acquiring or merging with another Dolby Licensee to determine if the parties involved need to reissue the technology license or consent to assign it. (See Section Applications and Forms)

  • Request a termination of one or more technology licenses. (See Section Applications and Forms)

  • Review the patents associated with your technology agreements.

Product Testing and Approval Lifecycle

Your product design must be tested and approved if it contains Dolby Intellectual Property (IP) to ensure your end-users get the Dolby experience they are accustomed to and expect. Below is a process example of the steps necessary.

Registered Boards

This section is specific to board makers that develop and optimize digital signal processing (DSP) systems to help shorten an OEM’s product development cycle. Register your designed OEM modules containing Dolby Intellectual Property (IP).

Request Approvals of Your Partners

When working with partners or related entities to help build your product, Dolby requires approval of these relationships to help avoid potential shipment delays with our approved implementation partners.

  • Subcontractor Application: Needed when products containing Dolby’s IP are developed or manufactured for a Licensee by a non-Dolby-licensed entity.
  • Purchasing Agent Application: Needed to authorize our Implementation partners that a subcontractor can directly purchase Implementations on the Licensee’s behalf.
  • Subsidiary Application: Notification from the Licensee that an entity within their organizational structure is entitled to receive certain Dolby license benefits. (See Section My Company → Applications and Forms)
  • Evaluation Units Application: Required when a Licensee wishes to obtain limited-use implementations, for internal product development, with technologies not currently licensed. (See My Section Company → Applications and Forms)
